The ethnic distribution of the Balkan region as of 1991 is shown in this map. Areas of diverse ethnic population include parts of Croatia and Bosina-Herzegovina. The ethnic ties of Kosovo to Albania can be clearly seen. The ethnic population distribution has changed, especially since the Dayton Agreement, which led to the formation of two federations within Bosnia and Herzegovina – one controlled by Croats and Muslims, and the other by Bosnian Serbs.
