Population Growth
Kenya has a very large population, which is growing rapidly, even by standards for developing nations. The Kenyan population is expected to grow from more than 28 million in 1994 to over 35 million by the year 2000. This means the country now has an annual population growth rate of over 3% and will have, if the trend continues, a net population growth of about 25% in just over five years. Unfortunately, this will mean severe socioeconomic strains on individuals and families.
