Classroom of the Future Researchers Present in
Chicago Two researchers at the NASA-sponsored Classroom of the Future will present workshops at the Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT) annual international convention Oct. 20-24 in Chicago. Debbie Denise Reese, Ph.D., and Adam Tarnoff will present two workshops on the Virtual Design Center housed at the Classroom of the Future. AECT is the premier international organization for instructional technology. One workshop will build partnerships between instructional designers, developers, research scientists, the Classroom of the Future, and NASA learning technologies researchers. The other workshop aims at students and will support NASA’s pipeline initiatives to increase the number of U.S. youths participating in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics careers. Reese and Tarnoff will provide hands-on experience with early prototypes of new NASA advanced technology applications, review NASA's learning sciences research agenda, and introduce participants to the Virtual Design Center. The Virtual Design Center uses NASA resources to ensure that new designs for classroom investigations are based on good science and solid educational design theory. The editorial board manages the editorial quality of the Virtual Design Center, reviews proposed research and design principle themes, and monitors the center’s online workshop. |
