Explorer Schools Research Earns Paper
Acceptance A team of researchers at the NASA-sponsored Classroom of the Future have had their proposed paper accepted for presentation at next year’s annual conference of the American Educational Research Association (AERA). The paper, “Garet et al. Revisited: Evaluating NASA Explorer Schools through Latent Variables of Effective Professional Development,” will be authored by Dr. Debbie Denise Reese, Dr. Victor Hernandez, Dr. Steven McGee, Jennifer Kirby, and Judy Martin. McGee is chief research and development officer at the Classroom of the Future. Reese, Kirby, and Martin are researchers. Hernandez also worked as a researcher before recently leaving for a university research position in Florida. The Classroom of the Future is responsible for evaluating the NASA Explorer Schools program. The paper will examine the program’s effectiveness based on the evaluation framework created by Garet et al. AERA is the most prominent international
professional organization with the primary goal of advancing
educational research and its practical application. Its 20,000
members are educators; administrators; directors of research,
testing or evaluation in federal, state and local agencies;
counselors; evaluators; graduate students; and behavioral
scientists. Its annual meeting will be held April 11-15 in Montreal. |
