Tour Wants to Know YOUR Needs The latest round of an extensive listening campaign to determine what needs schools have and how the NASA-sponsored Classroom of the Future can meet them took team members to Milwaukee recently. Jackie Shia, Anna Oskorus, Jeff Smith, and Jennifer Kirby of the Classroom of the Future conducted a needs assessment at eight Milwaukee schools—Clara Muhammad, Shalom High School, NOVA, Community High School, Professional Learning Institute, I.D.E.A.L Charter School, Burdick, and ALAS. The Milwaukee trip was the second round of interviews conducted during the needs assessment. Last month team members examined schools in Ohio County, WV. During the school visits team members observed a variety of classroom settings and interviewed teachers and individuals involved in making technology decisions at their schools. The two people who provided transportation between the school visits provided significant insights into the educational atmosphere of Milwaukee. Debriefing sessions were held at the end of each day. Once the assessments are completed, Classroom
of the Future staff will meet to design a plan to better meet the
needs of schools. The effort is a key strategy for the Classroom of
the Future. |
