Webcast Highlights Virtual Design Center The Virtual Design Center at the NASA-sponsored Classroom of the Future conducted an interactive webcast last Tuesday. The Virtual Design Center uses NASA resources to ensure that new designs for classroom investigations are based on good science and solid educational design theory. The webcast audience was prospective applicants to the “Professional Development, Instructional Materials and Technology Tools in Support of NASA Explorer School” NASA research announcement (# NNH04ZNS003N). The webcast was moderated and delivered from the Classroom of the Future at Wheeling Jesuit University by Dr. Debbie Denise Reese, educational researcher, and Dr. Steven McGee, chief research and development officer at the Classroom of the Future. It also included live presentations from the Classroom of the Future Washington office by Stacey Rudolph, NASA education products manager, and from the Classroom of the Future Milwaukee office by Adam Tarnoff, Virtual Design Center assessment specialist. The webcast explained Virtual Design Center research and the instructional design workshop within NASA education, the NASA education mission, and the NASA vision for space exploration. Virtual Design Center training grounds workshop participants in research-based best practice for the design of inquiry-based classroom activities that connect NASA science and resources to national standards and enhanced learning. The webcast slideshow and drafts of NASA
product review documents can be downloaded from the Virtual Design
Center web site. |
