Finding Carbon Released
Use the unsupervised classification of the 543 Landsat Browse Image and the Carbon in Live Vegetation in Global Ecosystems, provided in the module, to find the following:

  • kg C/m2 = kilograms of carbon per square meter
  • Ecosystem; Conifers, Median Estimate of C = 16 kg C/m2
  • Coniferous burned = 17683200 m2
  • Canopy burned = 28856700 m2 (Note: Only ¼ of C is burned in a canopy )
