Bear Creek Watershed: Site I Data
Below are three tables that contain data collected at Site I in Bear Creek Watershed.

Table 1. Biological data collected at Site I in Bear Creek Watershed.

 Parameter

 Value

Ephemeroptera 1579 individuals/m2
Plecoptera 558 individuals/m2
Trichoptera 836 individuals/m2
Coleoptera 1297 individuals/m2
Diptera: Chironomidae 2532 individuals/m2
Other Diptera 133 individuals/m2
Megaloptera 30 individuals/m2
Crustacea 629 individuals/m2
Annelida 398 individuals/m2
Mollusca 525 individuals/m2

For an explanation of these parameters and the calculations that can be performed on these data, see the "Biological Assessment" section of the "Water Quality" puzzle piece. Using the data in Table 1 above, calculate the total number of organisms, EPT Index, and species diversity at Site I in Bear Creek Watershed.

Table 2. Chemical data collected at Site I in Bear Creek Watershed.

 Parameter

hardness 84.3 ppm
nitrates 7.3 mg N/L
nitrites 0.8 mg N/L
ammonia 0.6 mg N/L
total phosphorus 0.09 mg P/L
dissolved oxygen 10 ppm
fecal coliform 47 colonies/100 mL
conductivity 0.3 µohms

For an explanation of these parameters, see the "Chemical Assessment" section of the "Water Quality" puzzle piece.

Table 3. Physical data collected at Site I in Bear Creek Watershed.

 Parameter
